State government elections are coming up and I can’t find any information about the incumbent representative for my house district. The guy who is running against him has a website about his platform and I can find interviews with him and a few articles on his issues, but nothing on the guy who has been in office since 1994. On the state website, I can see the bills he sponsored, but nothing about the stuff he voted against. Is this guy (Bob Purkey) that confident that he can win that he doesn’t bother to even run a public awareness campaign about his issues? I remember last time around there was quite the battle between Purkey and an independent, but Purkey won in the end. I remember there being a fair amount of information then, but almost nothing now.
The absentee ballot is pretty funny too. It has three offices to vote for: 8th Senate District (only one candidate), Soil and Water Conservation Director (again, one candidate), and then the 82nd House District, where Bob MacIver faces off against Purkey. It’s these people that make more of an impact (I think) on our daily lives than do the national representatives, but you hear almost nothing about them or the election.
