Earthquake?

Last night on the phone, Sarah asked me if there had been any earthquakes. This was the first time she (or anyone from home) asked me this. Then, in my sleep, I had one of the most vivid dreams I’ve had in quite awhile. I was on an airplane that had just taken off, looking out the window. I remember seeing another plane passing us in the opposite direction when we hit turbulence. Really bad turbulence that felt very real. Then, I woke up and then drifted back to sleep.

I turn on the news after my run this morning to find there was an earthquake in Oakland that shattered windows and knocked stuff off of shelves. Weird.

It turns out Dan and his friend are making their way through Yosemite this weekend on the Pacific Crest Trail. I wish I had known this earlier. Unfortunately, his blog wasn’t updated in about two weeks so I had no idea where he was until yesterday. The map on his blog is misleading and it appears as though he is farther south than in reality. I wanted to go out to meet him, but it’s probably too late now. I did leave a message on his phone, but he probably won’t get it until tomorrow at the earliest. I don’t want to drive 5 hours only to find out he won’t make it. I also have no place to stay. There are cabins at Yosemite, but of course they are all full and I don’t have any gear to brave 30-40 degree nights. Next weekend might work when he would probably be closer to I-80 but Dan’s parents are supposed to be visiting him and I’ve already made some plans.
