Nearly 90 today — it was real difficult running since I got up late. I came home for the weekend to dump off a lot of my uselesss junk and then to go to my girlfriend’s prom. I didn’t go to mine because it was the same day of the State Meet last year. I don’t think she was too happy that I didn’t go last year. Personally I think those kinds of things are overrated — they can be fun, but you can’t come away from it claiming that you accomplished or gained something by going. It was like that about high school graduation, too. I feel that your efforts should be focused toward what is important — the classes you take and the work you do during your four years of high school, not some ceremony at the end. I wanted to skip graduation so I could race in Raleigh, but my coach/family/girlfriend convinced me otherwise. Besides, I got to go out to California to run instead.
